Academic excellence

In 2013, the school once again received a 100% IEB NSC Matric pass rate with 85% of the matrics attaining university exemptions (22 of 26). It is the 11^th consecutive year that Merrifield College has achieved a 100% pass rate, every year since Merrifield pupils wrote the first IEB NSC matric exam in 2003.

In 2014 and 2015 the students continued to show their academic prowess, and the Class of 2016 looks set to be the strongest yet.

These results are a testament to the hard work of pupils and teachers from the foundation level up.

The academic focus at Merrifield, based on small classes, personal attention and a quality IEB education continues to be an important attraction for parents. In seeking to offer “a rigorous academic environment in a learning centre of exceptional quality” (mission statement, 2012), the school will not compromise on these key pillars of educational success. This is no doubt the source of Merrifield’s strength as a thriving educational community.

Staff with a passion for teaching stretch pupils beyond the curriculum and are prepared to offer additional classes, extension and enrichment work. The rewards of this commitment are evident and education from Merrifield will stand every child in good stead.
