PART-TIME STUDIES

The part-time courses presented at the International Academy, offer a number of short programs to accommodate those with a busy schedule. These short courses offer the student the opportunity and flexibility to study at their own pace and time within the allowed timeframe. Students can either add to their existing qualifications or launch a totally new career.

Practical classes are held on weekdays, evenings and every Saturday.

All courses cover a theory and practical component and are presented by well established, qualified and experienced lecturers.

A combination of courses allows you the opportunity to further your qualification with an internationally recognized qualification from ITEC. Kindly discuss options, dates and rates for further examinations with us.

The basic study of chemistry and electricity provides the therapist with good working knowledge of the ingredients and properties of cosmetic products as well as knowledge of all electrical treatments.

BUSINESS STUDIES – COURSE 8
The main skills you will achieve by completing this course –

The understanding of business economics, reception and Administration, setting up and the design of a salon and human resources.

ANATOMY AND PHYSIOLOGY – COURSE 9
The main skills you will achieve by completing this course –

Anatomy, Physiology and Pathology | Body Systems the cell, skeletal, muscular, nervous, endocrine, respiratory, cardiovascular, lymphatic, digestive, urinary and reproductive.

SWEDISH MASSAGE – COURSE 10
Holistic Massage for International Exams

BODY & BODY ELECTRICAL TREARMENTS – COURSE 11 (Course 9 & 10 Prerequisites)

AROMATHERAPY FOR HEALTH AND SKINCARE– COURSE 13 (Course 9 & 10 Prerequisite)
The main skills you will achieve by completing this course –

Aromatherapy includes consultation technique, understanding the needs of clients and when and when not to treat them, carrying out visual analysis and identifying skin types, recognising contraindications, explaining possible contra-actions, blending essential oils and carrier oils, using a variety of Aromatherapy techniques, adapting the treatment to suit the specific needs of the client and providing aftercare and home care advice.

REFLEXOLOGY – COURSE 14
(Course 9 & 10 Prerequisite)
The main skills you will achieve by completing this course –

Reflexology includes carrying out a visual analysis of the feet, relaxation techniques, supporting the feet correctly, a variety of Reflexology techniques such as thumb walking, finger walking, pivot, hook and rocking, adapting the techniques to suit the client’s specific needs, maintaining professional posture and locating zones, transfer lines and cross reflexes on the hands and feet.

SHIATSU – COURSE 15
(Course 9 Prerequisite)
The main skills you will achieve by completing this course –

A massage therapy that involves pressure on the acupressure points to balance the body’s energy.

MANUAL LYMPHATIC DRAINAGE – COURSE 16
(Course 9 Prerequisite)
The main skills you will achieve by completing this course –

Lymphatic drainage massage includes consultation and contraindication, selecting suitable massage mediums for the client’s
skin type, classical Lymphatic Drainage movements and adapting the treatment to the client’s specific needs.

INDIAN HEAD MASSAGE – COURSE 17
(Course 9 Prerequisite)
The main skills you will achieve by completing this course –

Indian Head Massage includes the use of techniques such as classical Indian Head Massage movements, massage mediums and adapting the treatment to meet the client’s specific needs.

STONE THERAPY MASSAGE – COURSE 18
(Course 9 & 10 Prerequisite)
The main skills you will achieve by completing this course –

Stone Therapy Massage Teaches the use of techniques and stones such as classical massage movements, trigger point work, semi-precious, hot and cold stones and adapting treatment to the client’s specific treatment needs.

DEEP TISSUE MASSAGE – COURSE 19
(Course 9 & 10 Prerequisite)
The main skills you will achieve by completing this course –

Deep Tissue Massage focuses the massage techniques on the body in which the intention is to release chronic muscle tension and knots in the deeper tissue structure of the muscle and fascia.

NAIL EXTENSIONS – COURSE 20
The main skills you will achieve by completing this course –

Care for nails on the hand including hand massage and application and polish | Care for the nails on the feet including foot massage and application of polish | Applying and maintaining nail enhancements – Liquid and powder, gel and wraps.

FASHION AND PHOTOGRAPHIC MAKE-UP – INCLUDES BASIC MAKEUP – COURSE 22
The main skills you will achieve by completing this course –

Make-Up application including the understanding of face shapes and full make-up applications | Application of fashion and photographic make-up including creating and adapting a design plan, using products, tools and techniques to meet the design plan, black and white and colour and working to a budget.

EYELASH EXTENSIONS – COURSE 23
The main skills you will achieve by completing this course –

Artificial lashes are fixed on top of the natural lashes, allowing for a fuller, more defined & lengthened set of eyelashes.

THREADING – COURSE 24
The main skills you will achieve by completing this course –

Facial hair removal gives clear lines and shapes making use of pure cotton.
