About us
Situated in Johannesburg in the economic and commercial heart of the country on the Wits University Braamfontein Campus West, the School of Business Sciences (SBS) services a broad range of students drawn mainly from within the CLM Faculty.
A School that encompasses many disciplines, SBS is involved in research across a wide range of areas. We house various research institutes including the Strategic Foresight Research Group (SFRG), Knowledge and Information Economics/ Human Resources Research Agency (KIEHRA), and Smart Cities in Africa Research Project.
From a teaching perspective, our undergraduate Bachelor of Commerce (BCom) degree includes a broad spectrum of courses, from insurance and information systems to marketing and human resources management. This affords students some degree of specialization, depending on the area of business in which they are most interested.
At the postgraduate level, all four disciplines in the school – Insurance and Risk, Information Systems, Management, and Human Resource Management, and Marketing – offer postgraduate qualifications, from Honours through to Masters and Doctoral degrees.
