Vision

The principles espoused by the Department of Psychology of Education are rooted in the African context and strives to develop the knowledge, skills, attitudes and values necessary for development on the African continent.

The Department strives toward the provision of an exceptional scholarly environment to serve not only its students but also teachers, educational psychologists and the South African public at large. The Department constantly strives toward building its reputation as a provider of high-quality open distance learning (ODL) by promoting relevant and innovative psycho-educational programmes to enhance the professional and academic skills of its students.

The Department also initiates and conducts far-reaching community engagement projects and educational programmes for the development of informed, ethical and compassionate professionals with the ability to contribute to a society in which the democratic values of human dignity, equality and freedom is promoted and upheld in the lives of all South Africans.
