Benefits of enrolling in either Potchefstroom Academy or SAAHST
The benefits of being enrolled at either Potchefstroom Academy or SAAHST go far beyond simply offering world-class qualifications but also the following:
Student life on Campus
Potchefstroom Academy and SAAHST prioritise a safe, fun environment that encourages students to focus on their academic studies alongside plenty of social events and in doing so create a balanced student experience. Apart from the highly anticipated one-off events such as the welcoming of first years on campus, the Student Council and House Committees also organise regular events such as movie nights and community service projects (including CANSA and PAWS) to name a few. Students also get to showcase their talent in activities like Student Project Exhibitions and Sporting Events.
Life on campus for full-time students includes plenty of opportunities to form strong bonds and friendships.
One of the best ways to meet those who will be studying alongside you is to stay at one of the accommodation sites offered by Potchefstroom Academy and SAAHST. We recommend requesting accommodation early to avoid disappointment – as the accommodation on offer is limited and well sought after.
Students who choose to stay off-campus in private accommodation can still form part of the “student/hostel life” by joining the town hostel: Casa Mia.
The accommodation close by and/or on the Potchefstroom Academy and SAAHST campus includes:
- Dahlia – With 22 single student rooms available, Dahlia is suited for students who do not mind sharing a large communal kitchen, bathroom, and living area. Limited parking is available.
- Mondain – Set adjacent to the main campus, with space for 22 students in single and shared rooms, it has a shared communal kitchen, bathroom and living area.
- Viola – Right beside the main campus, with 13 students set in single rooms, Viola has a shared living area, laundry, and kitchen, with limited parking available.
- Hanton Court – A mere 3km away from Campus, which is within walking range. Accommodating 54 students in total, Hanton Court boasts 14 flats that sleep 3-4 students each. With double bedrooms, a living room, bathroom, kitchen and balcony, there are ample opportunities for students to socialise.
Facilities for full-time students
Our full-time students have access to all the on-site facilities – many of which were created specifically to give students the ability to have hands-on practical experience in their chosen field of study.
The Cantina, our cafeteria, is where students often come to socialise – and it excels at serving balanced, fresh meals to students. For hair trends, the on-site hairdressing salon is open to students and the public for all their styling needs.
For specialised qualifications, we have facilities such as a fully equipped Photography Studio. Members of the public can choose between hiring a student photographer or a professional one to capture their special memories.
The Wellness Centre serves as a site for the completion of Work Integrated Learning hours in which the students are allowed the opportunity to provide outstanding skin care, aesthetics, beauty and therapeutic treatments to other students and the public under supervision. This is an essential part of the qualifications as it allows students the opportunity to gain valuable hands-on experience.
Shared facilities for all students, like our computer rooms and media centre, have everything that students may require including printers, scanners, laminators, photocopiers, internet access, books and magazines, as well as CDs and DVDs.
Potchefstroom Academy and SAAHST strive to develop viable careers, in particular the training of entrepreneurs, designers, therapists, and media professionals in the service of the country and its people. Studying full-time for a qualification at Potchefstroom Academy and SAAHST corresponds with this mission and offers a wealth of experiences, all of which will help students learn and grow.
