Microbiologists study microbes or microorganisms to determine how they affect lives of humans and how to best exploit them. Microbiologists focus on the biology of microorganisms at cellular and molecular level, as well as their ecology, bacteria, viruses, fungi, archaea, algae and protozoa.
Microbiologist earn around R174 000 per annum on average.
