Apply to UWC using the online application
Things to note before applying online t o UWC:
- You’ll need an email address to complete the application. Don’t have one? Get an email address first.
- Make sure you have your documents ready to upload.
- International students will need to submit a letter of confirmation from Universities of South Africa (USAF) stating that they qualify to study at a South African university.
How to Apply Online
You can apply to UWC through their online application portal. All prospective students will be able to apply through this system.
Apply to UWC using the hardcopy application
Things to note before applying to UWC using the hardcopy form:
- You’ll need an email address.
- You’ll need to request an application form. You can do this in writing or by calling UWC on the following number: +27 21 959 3900/ 3901.

Apply to UWC Residence
NOTE: You’ll need to be accepted into your faculty before you’ll be able to apply for student ccommodation. Student accommodation is found on a separate Kovacs Student Village website. You can find the information here.
Application Fees for UWC
There is no application fee payable.
Submitting of Results and Documents
You will need to make sure that you submit your latest academic records when applying. All the documents you attach will need to be certified copies of the originals. Are you a transferring student? If yes, ensure that all transcripts and academic records are submitted as early as possible.

The University of the Western Cape (UWC) 2023-2024 application forms are available online for download. Candidates can apply for multiple programmes /courses through a single application form or online application form.

Hard Copy Application Process
For the Bachelor’s Degree:
The minimum admission requirement is a National Senior Certificate (NSC) as certified by Umalusi with an achievement rating of 4 (Adequate achievement, 50-59%) or better in four subjects chosen from the following recognized 20-credit NSC subjects (known as the ‘designated subject list’): Accounting, Agricultural Sciences, Business Studies, Dramatic Arts, Economics, Engineering Graphics and Design, Geography, History, Consumer Studies, Information Technology, Languages (one language of learning and teaching at a higher education institution and two other recognized language subjects), Life Sciences, Mathematics, Mathematical Literacy, Music, Physical Sciences, Religion Studies, Visual Arts.
For the Diploma:
The minimum admission requirement is a National Senior Certificate as certified by Umalusi with an achievement rating of 3 (moderate Achievement, 40-49%) or better in four recognized NSC 20-credit subjects.
For the Higher Certificate:
