ABOUT THE COMPANY – ALFRED NZO DISTRICT MUNICIPALITY

The District Municipality of Alfred Nzo lies on the north-east side of the Eastern Cape Province and is one of the 6 districts within the province. The Alfred Nzo District Municipality and expands from Drakensberg Mountains to the borders of Lesotho, the Sisonke District Municipality in and O.R. Tambo District Municipality.

The Municipality is named after Alfred Baphethuxolo Nzo, who was secretary-general of the ANC (African National Congress) and a minister of foreign affairs in Nelson Mandela’s cabinet from 1994 to 1999.
 

ABOUT THE BURSARY PROGRAMME – FIELDS COVERED

The Alfred Nzo District Municipality bursary will fund students following in the following fields (as they are scarce and critical skills):

  • Mechanical Engineering
  • Metallurgical Engineering
  • Marine Engineering
  • Architecture
  • Town and Regional Planning
  • Environmental Management
  • Environmental Health Management
  • Environmental and Water Science (BSc)
  • Geographic Information System
  • Geology (BSc)
  • Radiography (Bachelor of)
  • Medicine (MBCHB)
  • Pharmacy
  • Computer Science (BSc)
  • Information Communication Technology
  • Economics
  • Community Water Services and Sanitation (BSc)
  • Water Resource Management (BSc)
  • any other water and sanitation-related qualifications

Successful bursary recipients will be informed by 31 January 2019 at the latest – should you not receive any feedback, please regard your application as unsuccessful.
 

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

Applicants must satisfy the following minimum entry criteria before applying (please note that failure to satisfy all the requirements will lead to your application not being considered):

  • South African citizen
  • Reside within the Alfred Nzo jurisdiction area
  • Between 16 and 35 years old
  • Completed Matric OR currently in Matric
  • Intend on studying within one of the aforementioned fields of study
  • I intend on studying at a recognised South African tertiary institute
  • Proven financial need
  • Excellent academic record
  • *Preference will be given to disadvantaged students/li–gt;

Submit clear copies of the following supporting documentation along with your completed application form (the submission of these documents is compulsory – if any items are missing, your application be disregarded):

  • ID document (certified copy)
  • Matric certificate, if completed Matric (certified copy)
  • Matric latest results, if currently in Matric (certified copy)
  • Proof of enrolment or proof of acceptance to study at a recognised tertiary institution
  • Proof of residence from your Ward Councillor
  • Parents proof of income (latest payslips if employed/ affidavit if unemployed/ death certificate if deceased)
  • Motivational letter
