The Department of Medical-Surgical Nursing and Pre-clinical sciences currently offers both undergraduate and postgraduate programmes

UNDERGRADUATE PROGRAMMES
Bachelor of Science Nursing Regular Programme
This is a four years direct entry programme that is offered to students who have qualified in the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education. The programme is conducted through classroom teaching, skills lab, laboratory practical and clinical placements
Upgrading from Diploma to BSc. Nursing
This is an up-grading programme for Nurses who hold a diploma in Kenya Registered Community health nursing. The program is offered through Institution Base Mode for a period of 2½ years during the months of April, August and December. The course is conducted through theory and clinical placements. The students undertake classroom learning, skills lab and laboratory practicals for a period of four weeks for each session. Clinical placement will commence after the third session of the first academic year when the students will be placed for three months every academic year in the institutions approved by the Regulatory Body (Nursing Council of Kenya).

POSTGRADUATE PROGRAMMES
In 2017 the department started a Master’s programme in Nursing. The program was necessitated by the emergence of new health challenges, re-emergence of the once extinct health conditions, an expanded healthcare delivery system and the advancement in technology. This specialized training programme provides the learners with the advanced knowledge and inculcate appropriate attitude and develop specialized skills in diverse nursing specialities.
